Wear Solutions for the Steel Industry

Bulk material terminal, coke plant, sinter plant, pelletizing plant, blast furnace, steel plant, slag processing, gas or effluent treatment… In the steel industry, each stage of the process exposes your equipment to severe stresses: abrasion, temperature, corrosion, and thermal shock.

With more than 30 years of experience in the steel industry, PRODUR and WELDING ALLOYS support you in improving the reliability of your critical lines, to increase equipment availability, protect your investments, and ensure the industrial and environmental safety of your sites.

Proven Solutions for the Steel Industry

To withstand the demanding conditions of the steel industry, heavy abrasion, repeated impacts, intense heat, and corrosion, PRODUR offers a complete range of wear resistant materials selected for their reliability and robustness.

Dursteel® steels (410, 460, 500) are suited for standard liners and structural parts exposed to moderate wear or occasional impacts.

Creusabro® 4800 and 8000 steels, more technical grades, are designed for highly stressed areas combining severe abrasion and repeated impacts. Their active metallurgical structure enables progressive work hardening in service, significantly extending service life.

Duraplate® overlay plates reinforce protection in highly abrasive areas. The D45T grade in particular provides excellent temperature resistance, up to 700 °C, while maintaining high wear resistance.

Aldur® 240 and Durhart® 200 technical ceramics are ideal for environments with severe sliding abrasion. They ensure outstanding durability in critical areas such as chutes, piping, cyclones or hoppers, even in humid environments or with high concentrations of fine particles.

Each material is selected according to the actual constraints of your process in order to improve the reliability of your installations and secure long-term performance.

Manufacture of Wear Parts for the Steel Industry

PRODUR manufactures your wear parts according to drawings, based on your specifications and the specific constraints of your installations. Grates, screens, hopper liners, wear plates, nozzles, receiving or guiding components…

Each part is designed to ensure perfect integration into your existing equipment, while providing durability and mechanical strength.

Improving the Reliability of Your Steelmaking Equipment

Beyond manufacturing, we support you in improving the reliability of your critical installations.

Thanks to our expertise in the steel industry, we identify high-wear areas, analyze recurring failures, and propose targeted improvements.

When drawings are missing or outdated, our teams intervene on site to carry out precise measurements, forming the basis for reliable reverse engineering and appropriate material selection.

We turn your wear challenges into sustainable performance!

CASE STUDY

Manufacture of a grate for extractor

In a steel plant, the central grate of a metal apron feeder showed advanced wear, leading to a high risk of perforation and unplanned shutdowns.

To secure this critical area, PRODUR designed a custom-made part in Creusabro® 4800, a high-performance steel recognized for its resistance to combined abrasion and its delayed work hardening capability.

Result: a more robust component, extended service life, and improved operational continuity.

CASE STUDY

Reliability improvement of a cyclone cone

Facing premature wear of cyclone cones in a steel sinter plant, PRODUR proposed a complete redesign of the component with an internal lining in DURHART® 200.

This electrofused ceramic, combined with an abrasion resistant steel shell, increased the service life by more than 10 times and significantly reduced maintenance-related shutdowns.

CASE STUDY

Reliability improvement of an elbow at mill outlet

On a steel slag grinding installation, PRODUR completely redesigned a feed elbow particularly prone to wear and clogging.

Thanks to 3D scanning, flow analysis, and the combination of complementary materials, a new, higher-performance component was designed.

Result: significant reduction of deposits, improved abrasion resistance, and extended service life.

CASE STUDY

Reliability improvement of a louver damper

For the manufacture of a louver damper, an equipment manufacturer called on PRODUR to ensure excellent resistance to wear and high temperatures.

The parts were machined from Creusabro® 8000, 5-axis cut, with particular attention given to the edges – which are also functional.

Result: a robust, uniform and durable damper, perfectly suited to the constraints of a gas flow loaded with abrasive particles.
