Bucket wheel buckets
Bucket wheel buckets operate under particularly severe conditions: continuous abrasion, heterogeneous materials, risk of blockage and repeated impact stresses.
To ensure consistent operation and avoid any loss of efficiency, PRODUR designs and manufactures optimized buckets capable of withstanding the extreme conditions encountered in mining, quarrying and other abrasive environments.
Thanks to our integrated workshop (cutting, bending, fabrication) and our materials expertise, we manufacture complete buckets or interchangeable subassemblies, adapted to original geometries or improved for higher performance.
Wear-resistant materials for bucket wheel excavators
Each bucket zone is exposed to different wear mechanisms:
• impact at the entry,
• tangential abrasion,
• clogging phenomena,
• shear during discharge.
To address this, PRODUR selects and combines the most suitable technical materials:
Dursteel® abrasion resistant steels (410–460–510)
Ideal for bucket structures and impact zones.
They provide rigidity, resistance and long service life.
Creusabro® 4800 / 8000
Recommended for severe abrasion areas.
Their TRIP effect increases hardness in service and significantly improves service life.
Duraplate® overlay plates (D31T, D38T, HiSpeed…)
Used for highly stressed internal areas and flow surfaces.
They reduce tangential wear and limit material build-up.
Anti-clogging solutions
Depending on the environment (wet, sticky or fine materials), PRODUR integrates:
• anti-clogging liners,
• flexible chain-type bottoms,
• or low-friction materials to facilitate complete bucket discharge.
We design and improve your equipment to extend its service life.
CASE STUDY
Reliability improvement of a bucket wheel excavator
On a large bucket wheel excavator, the running bands showed advanced wear. PRODUR and the Welding Alloys entities coordinated a complete intervention including: grinding, manufacturing of Creusabro® 4800 segments, and on-site welding.
Result: perfectly restored geometry (tolerance < 1 mm) and improved mechanical performance thanks to Creusabro®.
CASE STUDY
Reliability improvement of bucket wheel buckets
For this mining application, PRODUR designed a bucket wheel bucket resistant to abrasion and clogging:
Structure in Dursteel® 410
Interchangeable cutting blades in Dursteel® 510
Interchangeable teeth in Dursteel® 410
Anti-clogging liners + flexible chain-type bottom
The system allows complete bucket discharge at each cycle, ensuring 100% capacity utilization and limiting performance losses caused by material build-up.
