CREUSABRO DUAL
High-Performance Abrasion-Resistant Steels
Creusabro Dual is a high-performance wear-resistant steel designed for the most extreme conditions, combining primary titanium carbides with the TRIP effect.
Result: wear resistance significantly higher than 500 HB / 550 HB water-quenched steels, even under severe abrasion combined with repeated impacts, heat, or moderate corrosion.
Its oil quenching greatly reduces residual stresses, enhancing stability and reliability in service.
Technical & General Information
Dureté :
470 HB (as delivered) – 540 (after TRIP EFFECT)
Formats & Thicknesses :
2000 × 6000 mm / 2500 × 8000 mm : 10 à 50 mm
Other thicknesses and formats on request
Mechanical Properties :
Yield Strength RP0.2: 1200 MPa
Tensile Strength RM: 1630 MPa
Elongation A%: 10
Elastic Modulus: 205 GPa
Impact Toughness KCVL: -20°C 18 J
Fabrication:
Creusabro DUAL offers easier fabrication thanks to its moderate as-delivered hardness.
It can be cut, formed and welded more easily than conventional water-quenched steels.
Cutting:
Compatible with oxy-fuel cutting, plasma, laser, or waterjet
Prefer laser / waterjet to limit the HAZ
Preheating recommended from 35 mm thickness: 150°C
Bending & Rolling:
Cold forming possible (minimum bend radius ≈ 100 × thickness)
Hot forming possible up to 450°C
Machining:
Drilling & milling: carbide or HSSCo tools recommended
Voluntary local heating to soften the zone is prohibited
Weldability:
Compatible with all processes: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW
Use of an austenitic wire recommended if no preheating is applied
For ferritic wires: preheating mandatory to prevent cracking
Main applications of Creusabro Dual
Ideal for all areas exposed to extreme abrasion, sliding wear or impact:
- Bucket liners (excavators, loaders, bulldozers)
- Wear blades & reinforcements
- Dumper bodies
- Wear parts for primary & secondary crushers
- Vibrating conveyor liners, grinding units
- Chutes, hoppers, chutes
- Screens & trommels
- Elbows, cyclones, deflectors
- Demolition / recycling shears
- Dredging pipelines
- Industrial fans
- XXL applications under extreme conditions (cement plants, incineration, blast furnaces…)
Why choose Creusabro Dual ?
A unique metallurgy, unmatched within the 500 HB family:
- Primary titanium carbides (~3000 HV) precipitated during solidification, providing exceptional resistance to severe abrasion even where conventional 500/550 HB steels reach their limit.
- TRIP effect: natural surface hardening in service (+70 HB) through transformation of residual austenite into very hard martensite.
- Very high resistance to gouging and cracking, even under intense dynamic loads.
- Heat resistance up to 450°C, whereas 500 HB water-quenched steels are limited to 250°C.
- Preserved processability, allowing forming, rolling and fabrication of curved parts.
