CREUSABRO 8000
High-Performance Abrasion-Resistant Steels
Creusabro 8000 is a very high-performance abrasion-resistant steel delivering wear life up to twice that of conventional 500 HB water-quenched steels.
Its enriched metallurgy (chromium, nickel, molybdenum, titanium) and specific heat treatment combine outstanding wear resistance, high ductility and easier fabrication compared with conventional quenched steels.
Creusabro 8000 is designed to provide the best balance between wear performance, formability, weldability and temperature stability.
Technical & General Information
Hardness :
470 HB (as delivered) – 540 (after TRIP EFFECT)
Formats & Thicknesses :
2000 × 6000 / 2500 × 6000 / 2500 × 8000 : 5 à 100 mm
Mechanical Properties :
Yield Strength RP0.2: 1250 MPa
Tensile Strength RM: 1630 MPa
Elongation A%: 12
Elastic Modulus: 205 GPa
Impact Toughness: 50 J at -20°C (thk. 20–100 mm)
Fabrication :
Creusabro 8000 is easier to process than a 500 HB water-quenched steel thanks to its moderate as-delivered hardness.
Cutting : oxy-fuel cutting, plasma, laser (plasma/laser recommended to limit the HAZ).
Bending & Rolling : excellent cold-forming capability; minimum bend radii to be respected according to thickness; plate temperature >10°C.
Hot forming : possible between 500–550°C without significant hardness loss
Machining : drilling and milling possible with suitable HSSCo or carbide tools.
Weldability :
Compatible with all standard processes:
Covered electrodes type E7016 / E7018
Gas-shielded welding wire type ER70S-4 / ER70S-6
Flux-cored wire type ER71T5
Depending on the setup, light preheating may be required (thickness, environment, humidity).
Main applications of Creusabro 8000
Ideal for all areas exposed to severe abrasion, sliding wear or impact:
- Bucket liners (excavators, loaders, bulldozers)
- Wear blades & bucket reinforcements
- Dumper bodies
- Wear parts for primary & secondary crushers
- Vibrating conveyor liners
- Chutes & hoppers
- Screens & trommels
- Elbows, cyclones, deflectors
- Demolition shears (recycling)
- Dredging pipelines
- Fans
Why choose Creusabro 8000 ?
Creusabro 8000 combines an enriched metallurgy and an optimized structure to deliver wear resistance 50% higher than conventional 500 HB steel.
- Excellent impact resistance: its improved ductility slows particle gouging and limits material loss in service.
- Massive TRIP effect: in service, Creusabro 8000 gains approximately +70 HB through surface work hardening, strengthening the surface and extending service life.
- Heat resistance up to 450 °C: very high resistance to softening thanks to nickel and molybdenum.
- Extreme versatility: effective under sliding, impact, wet or dry environments.
- Improved processability compared with conventional 500 HB steels: cutting, bending, machining and welding are easier due to moderate as-delivered hardness.
In summary, Creusabro 8000 is designed for the harshest areas: severe abrasion + impact + temperature.
