Creusabro 6400 is an abrasion-resistant steel designed to deliver a service life 50 to 100% longer than conventional 450/500 HB steels, while remaining significantly easier to process than a standard 500 HB grade.

Its enriched metallurgy (manganese, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, titanium) and moderate as-delivered hardness provide an excellent balance between wear resistance, ductility and formability.

Thanks to the TRIP effect, Creusabro 6400 can reach up to 530 HB in service, significantly improving abrasion resistance without compromising fabrication.

Creusabro 6400 offers easier fabrication thanks to its moderate as-delivered hardness, far easier than a standard 500 HB grade.

  • Cutting:
    Compatible with oxy-fuel cutting / plasma / laser
    Very limited HAZ
    Greater dimensional stability than 450/500 HB steels

  • Bending & Rolling:
    Minimum radius: 3.5 × thickness (perpendicular to rolling), 4.5 × thickness (parallel)
    No residual constraint after cutting: excellent flatness (<5 mm/m)

  • Hot forming: possible around 450–500°C without noticeable hardness loss

  • Machining: drilling/milling possible with suitable HSSCo / carbide tools

  • Welding:
    Compatible with standard processes
    Light preheating depending on thickness (0–125°C) to ensure joint quality
