CREUSABRO 4800
High-Performance Abrasion-Resistant Steels
Creusabro 4800 is a very high-performance abrasion-resistant steel delivering wear resistance up to twice that of conventional abrasion-resistant steels.
Its enriched metallurgy (chromium, nickel, molybdenum, titanium) and specific heat treatment combine outstanding wear resistance, high ductility and easier fabrication compared with water-quenched steels.
Creusabro 4800 is designed to provide the best balance between wear performance, formability and temperature stability.
Technical & General Information
Hardness :
370 HB (as delivered) – 440 (after TRIP EFFECT)
Thicknesses & Formats :
1500 × 3000 / 2000 × 6000 / 2500 × 8000 : 3-150 mm
Mechanical Properties :
Yield Strength RP0.2: 900 MPa
Tensile Strength RM: 1200 MPa
Elongation A%: 12
Elastic Modulus: 205 GPa
Impact Toughness (typical value):
50 J at -40°C (30–120 mm)
36 J at -20°C (<30 mm)
Fabrication :
Creusabro 4800 offers easier fabrication thanks to its moderate as-delivered hardness.
It can be cut, formed and welded more easily than conventional water-quenched steels.
Cutting: compatible with oxy-fuel cutting, plasma and laser, with significantly more stable behaviour than conventional 400 HB grades.
Bending & Rolling: improved cold forming capability; minimum bend radii to be respected according to thickness.
Hot forming: forming operations possible around 450–500°C without significant loss of hardness after slow cooling.
Machining: drilling and milling possible with suitable HSSCo / carbide tools.
Weldability: compatible with standard processes; light preheating may be required depending on thickness to ensure joint quality.
Main applications of Creusabro 4800
Ideal for all areas exposed to severe abrasion, sliding wear or impact:
- Bucket liners (excavators, loaders, bulldozers)
- Wear blades & bucket reinforcements
- Dumper bodies
- Wear parts for primary & secondary crushers
- Vibrating conveyor liners
- Chutes & hoppers
- Screens & trommels
- Elbows, cyclones, deflectors
- Demolition shears
- Dredging pipelines
- Fans
Why choose Creusabro 4800 ?
Creusabro 4800 combines an enriched metallurgy and an optimized microstructure to deliver a wear life 50 to 100% longer than a conventional 400 HB steel.
Its impact behaviour—significantly better than water-quenched steels—limits gouging and slows material loss in service.
Thanks to its TRIP effect, Creusabro 4800 gains up to +70 HB when exposed to impacts or abrasive particles, strengthening its surface during operation. Its improved ductility also provides better resistance to dynamic loads while simplifying cutting, bending and rolling.
Suitable for continuous service up to 450°C and hot-formable without hardness loss, Creusabro 4800 is the most versatile wear solution in its class: more durable, more stable and easier to integrate than standard abrasion-resistant steels.
