Ultimate Performance Against Wear, Heat and Corrosion

PRODUR offers a selection of technical materials meeting the specific requirements of the paper industry: abrasion, impacts, humidity, corrosion, erosion:

  • Duraplate® (D31T, Hi-Speed…): overlay plates based on complex carbides, designed for high-abrasion areas while remaining easy to integrate (welding, bending, cutting).
  • Creusabro®: high-performance wear resistant steel, particularly effective in cases of wear combined with moderate impacts. It provides longer service life than conventional 400/500 HB steels.
  • Durhart® 200: ceramic solution ideal for the internal protection of piping, elbows or hoppers subjected to sliding abrasion.
  • Duranox®: stainless steel lining for equipment located in humid or corrosive areas (tank bottoms, screw conveyors, interfaces in saturated environments).

CASE STUDY

Replacement of pneumatic piping

In a paper mill, a fine ash transfer line located at ground level showed premature wear. The objective of our intervention: improve installation reliability while respecting space constraints.

PRODUR designed a tailor-made solution with abrasion resistant ceramic components:

  • Elbows lined with DURHART® 200,
  • Straight sections inDURZALT® 40,
  • Adaptation flanges and bimetal pipes as complementary components.


Result: a durable line, resistant to abrasion, and easier to maintain thanks to standardized components.

Lining of a duct & an expansion joint

Facing premature wear of a stainless steel expansion joint and duct on a bark feed line, PRODUR proposed a tailor-made lining in DURPLAST® S, an elastomer resistant to impacts and abrasion.

Result: improved durability, parts reused instead of being replaced, and immediate operational gains.

Reliability improvement of a bark conveyor

In a paper mill, a bark conveyor was experiencing rapid wear despite the use of 400 HB steel. PRODUR proposed a new solution combining two materials:

  • Bottoms and sides in DURAPLATE® D31T,
  • Running rails in DURSTEEL® Mn.

 

This combination allows the abrasion and impact constraints to be precisely targeted.

Result: doubled service life of the rails and a significant reduction in maintenance shutdowns.

Reliability improvement of a drying duct

In the wood industry, an insulation panel manufacturer was experiencing corrosion and clogging issues on its fiber drying duct. The existing installation consisted of partial 304L stainless steel and standard S235 plate, heavily stressed by heat, humidity, and aluminum salts.

PRODUR proposed a complete reconstruction in DURANOX® 12, a martensitic stainless steel resistant to corrosion, designed to facilitate the flow of impregnated fibers.

Result: a homogeneous, durable line, optimized from the design stage thanks to 3D scanning.
